Today we highlight the broadcast on RTP2, on the 28th at 6 pm, of the great JOP concert at Young Euro Classic 2022, recorded at the Konzerthaus in Berlin — a moment of high artistic intensity now available to revisit on RTP Palco.
Part of the prestigious Young Euro Classic festival, this programme stood out for its conceptual structure around ‘Beginning – Creation – Development – End’, revealing the artistic identity and ambition of the orchestra under the baton of conductor Pedro Carneiro.
The concert begins with ‘The Representation of Chaos’ from Joseph Haydn’s oratorio The Creation, evoking the universe before the act of creation. This is followed by the world premiere of ‘How to Plant a Sound’ by Marta Domingues, a 22-year-old Portuguese composer, in a work that dialogues with Haydn and features musicians from the Orquestra dos Navegadores, one of the JOP’s most important social projects.
The second part takes us to Anton Bruckner’s monumental Symphony No. 9 — his last, unfinished work, often understood as a profound musical testament.
