The Oeiras International Chamber Music Festival – FIMCO – was created in 2023 to celebrate the anniversary of the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa – Associação Musical.

The Association made itself known to the public in September 2007, when the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa (OCP) made its absolute debut in response to António Mega Ferreira’s challenge to open the 2007/2008 season at the Belém Cultural Centre. Since then it has been fulfilling its mission. To create platforms for the professionalisation of new generations of musicians, to open up space for the valorisation of Portuguese culture and its agents who are committed to active and inclusive citizenship, and to provide an encounter between the various fields of artistic, intellectual, recreational and physical expression.

FIMCO serves these purposes, celebrating these values, contributing to the sustained growth of our intervention, providing moments of sharing with musicians of extraordinary value, both international and national.

It is from our headquarters at the former Sofia Carvalho School in Algés that we promote various initiatives in partnership and with the support of the Oeiras Municipality, but also throughout the country and abroad – the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa (OCP), the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa (JOP), the Orquestra dos Navegadores – Oeiras and Sementes, and the inclusive group Notas de Contacto.

It is with pride and a spirit of mission that we organise hundreds of activities every year: open rehearsals, workshops, concerts, gatherings, masterclasses, as well as social inclusion through music and art, facilitating access and safeguarding the development and integration of children and young people from vulnerable backgrounds.

The FIMCO concerts take place every year throughout the municipality of Oeiras, an initiative of OCP and the fundamental support of the Oeiras Municipality.
