The Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa (OCP) represents a remarkable opportunity for the professionalisation of new generations of musicians, where cooperation between young musicians and professional musicians provides an enriching environment for sharing musical knowledge. It applies an innovative and creative approach, involving the rotation of musicians within their groups and the combination with other artistic disciplines.

Artistic direction is provided by international conductor and soloist Pedro Carneiro, Gulbenkian Art Prize 2011 winner, who leads the most recent and virtuoso generation of instrumentalists in Portugal.

Playing standing up has become a habit and a trademark of the OCP, intensifying the dynamics of the sound produced in the concerts, evident in the satisfaction of the audience, who enjoy the beauty conferred by the choreographed concerts and the performances played from memory. OCP’s character of excellence and innovation manifests itself in a space for individual affirmation based on listening to the orchestral collective, inspired by the joy and demand of the performances, always with the aim of the enjoyment of its audience.

Over the years, hundreds of renowned professionals, including instrumentalists, singers, composers and conductors, have collaborated with the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa. Examples include soloists such as Jorge Moyano, Cristina Ortiz, Sergio Tiempo, Gary Hoffman, Carlos Alves, Heinrich Schiff, Thomas Zehetmair, Sergei Nakariakov, António Rosado, Tatiana Samouil, Artur Pizarro, Filipe-Pinto Ribeiro, Pavel Gomziakov, Andreï Korobeinikov, Wolfgang Holzmair, Hüseyin Sermet, Sergei Nakariakov, Xavier de Maistre; the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Voces Celestes and Lisboa Cantat; composers Emmanuel Nunes, Miguel Azguime and Sofia Gubaidulina; and conductors Pedro Amaral, Pedro Neves, Luís Carvalho, Alberto Roque and Emilio Pomàrico.

With one of its values being the promotion and valorisation of artists, OCP seeks to give opportunities to new soloists, composers and conductors, such as Tamila Kharambura, Jan Wierzba, Pedro Lopes, Miguel Costa, Ricardo Gaspar, Mariana Vieira, José Eduardo Gomes, Henrique Constância, Pedro Lima Soares, Marta Domingues, João Carlos Pinto, among others.

After its first internationalisation in 2010 at the City of London Festival, OCP has significantly increased its presence on the most diverse national and international stages, strengthening its prestige.
