Body Awareness
OCP-AM’s Body Awareness programme was born out of an absolute and unequivocal relationship between the body and the musical instrument.
This pioneering idea was introduced by the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa team into the routine of orchestral musicians in 2007 at its foundation.
It is a practice that is now part of the daily studies and training of musicians in Portugal and has spread exponentially throughout the world.
Incorporating the musical instrument as an extension of our physical body is one of the reflections that led to the questioning of the body awareness programme.
Injury prevention, technical improvement and artistic excellence are the corollary of a long and successful professional musical career.
The Body Awareness Programme accompanies all the artistic programmes of the OCP-AM orchestras: the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa, the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa and the Orquestra dos Navegadores, and has also been presented at various JOP counterpart orchestras in the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras, national and international festivals.
